Contacts Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the app uses, why it uses it, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to this policy.
1. Summary
- The app is a phone dialer. To work, it needs to be your default phone app and needs access to your contacts, call log and phone.
- Your contact list and call history are read on your device to show them to you. We do not upload your contact list or call history to our servers and we do not sell them.
- The app shows ads and uses analytics, crash reporting, usage recording and push notifications from third-party providers. They collect device identifiers and usage data as described below.
2. Information the app accesses on your device
| Data / permission | Why the app needs it |
|---|---|
| Contacts (READ_CONTACTS, WRITE_CONTACTS) | Show your contact list, show the caller's name and photo, add, edit, delete, import, export and favourite contacts. |
| Call log (READ_CALL_LOG, WRITE_CALL_LOG) | Show recent, missed, incoming and outgoing calls, show call history for a contact, and delete call log entries when you ask. |
| Phone (CALL_PHONE, READ_PHONE_STATE, default phone app role) | Place calls, show the incoming and ongoing call screen, manage calls (hold, mute, speaker, add, merge), and detect your SIM cards for dual-SIM calling. |
| Call screening role | Block calls from the numbers you add to your block list. |
| Notifications and full-screen intent (POST_NOTIFICATIONS, USE_FULL_SCREEN_INTENT) | Show the incoming-call screen over the lock screen, show ongoing-call and missed-call notifications, and show push notifications from us. |
| Storage / files you pick | Import contacts from, or export contacts to, a file that you choose, and set a contact photo. |
| Vibration, wake lock | Keypad vibration and keeping the screen state correct during a call. |
| Advertising ID | Used by the ad and analytics providers listed in section 3. |
If you send a quick reply while declining a call, the message is sent through your phone's own messaging service to the caller you chose.
3. Information collected by third-party services
The app includes the following services. They collect data directly from your device under their own privacy policies.
| Service | Purpose | Data it may collect |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob / Google Ad Manager | Showing ads | Advertising ID, IP address (approximate location), device and app information, ad impressions and clicks, diagnostics. |
| Google Analytics for Firebase | Understanding how the app is used and measuring advertising | App instance ID, advertising ID, device information, approximate location derived from IP, and in-app events such as screens opened, a call started or ended (without the phone number), ads shown or clicked and the ad revenue they produced. |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Finding and fixing crashes | Crash reports, device model, OS version, an installation identifier. |
| Firebase Cloud Messaging | Sending push notifications | A push token for this installation. |
| Microsoft Clarity | Understanding how people use the app's screens so we can improve them | Recordings of how the app's screens are used (taps, scrolling, screens visited), device information and identifiers. All text and images on the screens are masked in these recordings, so contact names, phone numbers and call history are not readable in them. |
Policies of these providers: Google · Firebase · Microsoft
Our analytics events never include phone numbers, contact names or message text.
4. Information sent to our own servers
- App settings request: the app asks our server for its ad settings and sends the app's package name.
- Install count: the first time the app is opened it sends the app's package name once, so we can count installs.
- Push registration: the push token for this installation is sent to our push server so that we can deliver notifications.
These requests do not contain your contacts, call history, phone number or name.
5. Advertising and your choices
- Where required (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), the app asks for your consent before showing personalised ads. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Ad privacy settings inside the app.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).
- You can turn off the app's notifications in your device settings.
6. How we use information
- To provide the dialer, contacts, call history and call-blocking features.
- To show ads that keep the app free, and to measure how our advertising performs.
- To measure usage, improve the app and fix crashes.
- To send notifications about calls and about the app.
7. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your contact list or call history with anyone. Device identifiers, usage data and crash data are processed by the third-party services listed in section 3. We may disclose information if required by law.
8. Data retention and deletion
- Contacts and call history are stored by your phone, not by us. You can delete them in the app or in your phone's settings at any time.
- App settings (theme, language, block list, quick replies) are stored on your device and are removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
- To ask about data held by us or by the third-party services, or to request deletion, contact us at the address below.
9. Security
Data sent to the third-party services is encrypted in transit. Data on your device is protected by your device's own security.
10. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
